About the Course

Designed to inspire and empower students to get to where they want to go, our Goal Achievement Series will guide students to intentionally attain personal success.  This goal achievement process can be applied in the classroom, in competition, on the path to college, career, life, and more.  Students will learn how to make personal decisions that align better with their temperament and values.
Our research-based approach delivers a frequently fun, often challenging, and always insightful class packed with “a-ha moments” that keep students wanting to dig deeper.

Students develop the self-awareness, perspectives, skills, and habits to produce improved:

  • Academic achievement

  • Career performance and satisfaction

  • Long-term health and relationship benefits

Grounded empirically in the science of personality psychology and goal pursuit, students will:

  • Articulate a deeper understanding of their personality and values

  • Align their goals with that identity

  • Develop the skills to create new habits to achieve those goals

Part 1 - Personality, Values & Habit Building

Imagine students intentionally working towards their goals driven by their own enthusiasm and interests! This highly-engaging, 1 - 8 hour course creates productive citizens by giving students a practical structure for achieving their goals through time management, personal organization, and habit formation. Students explore their personality, strengths, and values to set goals that inspire them to pursue personally meaningful career outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Define a measurable personal goal, supported with weekly reflections, to reach by the end of the course.

  • Identify a multitude of factors that could enhance or limit the success of reaching a personal goal, such as individual perceptions, personal values, personality, and neuroplasticity.

  • Study the difference between Growth mindsets and Fixed mindsets, examine a successful Growth Mindset example, and classify pre-existing goal-setting examples into Growth or Fixed Mindset scenarios.

  • Deconstruct the components of SMART Goals and generate a SMART goal to achieve by the end of the course.

  • Explore the limited nature of individual perceptions, such as Intentional Blindness and Change blindness.

  • Examine the acquired habits of our conscious and subconscious minds.

  • Identify methods to build new habits by creating a repeated context.

  • Break down the vast landscape of personality, by deconstructing the 5-factor/OCEAN model. Ascertain individual personality type by completing a five-finger personality test.

  • Reflect on plasticity of individual personality, by exploring Personality Range and Volitional Personality Change.

  • Explore individual values by completing a values assessment. Determine whether one’s personal goals reflect one’s personal values.

  • Complete a self-authoring exercise, envisioning one’s life after 6 years.

  • Evaluate the percentage of goal completed during the course. Reflect on whether the goal would benefit from adjustments, based on individual personality, habits, and values. 

Part 2: Leadership & Communication

Craft the leaders of tomorrow in this dynamic 1-8 hour course that explores the foundations of identity, personal growth, and collaboration. Students gain insight into their personal strengths and apply them to a series of engaging activities. Through  cooperation with their classmates, students will also develop strong interpersonal communication skills that will serve them for years to come.

Learning Objectives

  • Differentiate between a Leader (capital “L”) and a leader (lowercase “l”), distinguish between the 5 leadership styles, and define one’s own potential leadership style.

  • Assess weekly progress on SMART Goal from Personal Growth and Goal-Setting Course, and  create a new SMART Goal to accomplish with a team.

  • Explore individual values and evaluate how different personal values could impact  leadership style.

  • Differentiate between values and ethics.  Create an Ethics Code of Conduct based on one’s leadership style and analyze leadership ethical dilemmas that may arise.

  • Explore various methods of communication and negotiation as they apply to leadership. Practice communicating a detailed vision to a would-be team member and negotiating any issues that might arise.

  • Expand leadership comfort zones by practicing various methods of communication and negotiation styles.

  • Complete a self-authoring exercise, envisioning one’s life as a team-leader after 6 years.
