COURSES
Tried & True Courses are designed to provide a comprehensive approach to a subject of interest, to develop student mastery, and to substantially improve student achievement.
STEAM Escape Room (15-56 hours; up to 8 hours of optional testing)
Our most popular program, students and educators attest to the fun and effectiveness of this coding, electrical engineering, problem solving, and computational thinking course. Uniquely centered around an immersive story/game structure, students can’t wait for the next class session.
STEAM Robotics – Sphero (12-24 hours)
In this introduction to computer science, coding, and robotics, students automate Sphero Bolt Robots to complete an ever more complex series of missions where their Sphero robot will act as a computer virus, a robotic athlete, an automated delivery driver, and much more.
Video Game Design (9-24 hours)
This course embodies the principles of STEAM, bringing together technical skills like programming with creative skills like graphic design and writing. Students will write a choose-your-own-adventure style story, draw original characters, and program in Python to create a game based on their story and characters. By the end of the course, students will have created their own playable game prototype, which they can add to their portfolio.
Intro to Web Coding (12-20 hours)
Students will create their own working website, while learning to code using Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
Science & Engineering Workshops (16-28 hours)
These inquiry based workshops, centered around hands-on activities, bring science and the design process to life. Groups of 3 to 4 students use household items to compete in a series of engineering challenges.
BOOT CAMPS
Tried & True Bootcamps are mid-length courses designed to go more in depth into multiple topics within a single subject and to quickly boost student achievement.
